“But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid; for behold, I bring you good news of a great joy
which shall be for all people.” Luke 2:10

Our memory verse above encompasses so much of what the Lord wants us to remember, to meditate on and to share as “Good News Newsies.” The phrases, Do NOT be afraid, good news, great joy and ALL people point to the blessed assurance that are ours through Baby Jesus!

“DO NOT BE AFRAID!” The NIV version of Luke 2:8-9 states that the shepherds were “terrified” when the angel suddenly appeared before them and the Glory of the Lord shone around them. What a glorious and terrifying sight they experienced in the darkness of the fields. These were not some wimpy boys. The shepherds faced many dancers nightly and were always on alert, guarding their sheep. The angel sought first to quiet them so that they could hear the good news. In our life we will face many situations and circumstances that could paralyze us with fear. Because of Jesus we have direct access to the Throne of Grace to receive peace during our difficult circumstances. “Fear Not” appears over 365 times in the Bible. Let us be encouraged that Almighty God will pour out His Grace and enable us to “fear not” in our most terrifying trials.

“GOOD NEWS OF GREAT JOY” There has been no better news ever proclaimed to mankind. …”there has been a Savior born to you, who is Christ the Lord.” A Savior who brings us from eternal death to eternal life, from the pits of darkness to everlasting light, from lost to found, hopeless to hopeful. And He brings us HIS Joy which is our strength. “FOR ALL PEOPLE” No person is beyond His saving love. ALL is ALL! “There is none righteous, no not one.” We cannot earn it and we can never deserve His Amazing Grace which sets us free from eternal death. “While we were yet sinners Christ died for us” The good news is that Jesus knew what He was getting and wanted us anyway. That ALL people, rich or poor, advantaged or not, would fall short of His Glory, would miss the mark, would make wrong choices, would sin and that no matter how hard we tried, we would never be able to earn our way into Heaven. And God The Father said, “My love for them is all consuming! I will give my Son to take the punishment for their sins.” and God The Son said “My love for them is unlimited! I will leave the glory of my Heavenly Home and I will come as a baby, born in poverty and grow into a sacrifice for their sins.” And God The Holy Spirit said “My love for them is unconditional! I will come and live in the hearts of any child of God who will accept the free gift of Salvation. I will lead them and comfort them until their days on earth are through.” Not a select few, but for ALL!

I pray that your Christmas is blessed with His love, His joy and His peace. I pray that during this Christmas Season you will give Him your fears, find His Good News of Great Joy and join ALL who enjoy the abundance from His Bounty!
